SCHOOLCRAFT COUNTY — A Germfask man died as a result of a crash involving a dirt bike and a parked pickup truck on M-77 Sunday night.
At approximately 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Michigan State Police (MSP) Troopers from the Manistique Outpost responded to a reported traffic crash on M-77 near Grant Road in Germfask Township.
A news release states the preliminary investigation indicates a 33-year-old Germfask man was operating a dirt bike on M-77 when he struck a legally-parked pickup truck on the shoulder of the roadway. The rider had been wearing a helmet while operating the off-road bike.
Despite life-saving efforts by two citizens, responding troopers and EMS personnel, the man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased while being transported to the hospital by EMS, according to a Michigan State Police press release.
