Meetings this evening

ESCANABA — Two meetings taking place publicly at Ludington Street addresses this evening will discuss the future of downtown Escanaba.

CONSTRUCTION

At City Hall, located at 410 Ludington St., the monthly informational meeting intended to provide updates and plans about the road construction and water line work is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday night. Staff with the City of Escanaba and from engineering firm C2AE will be prepared to speak about the large-scale project and answer questions from residents and business owners. Such meetings are planned for the first Wednesday of each month and are open to the public.

Escanaba City Hall is accessible from both front and rear; the road construction on main street is currently between Sixth Street and 14th Street.

CONDOMINIUMS

Another meeting, a few blocks west at Leigh’s Garden Winery, is to discuss Northshore Flats — the condominium project planned for the waterfront property next to the Municipal Dock, where the old Chamber building used to be.

The developer is Swanee, Inc. (Matt and Beth Sviland), and Key Realty is involved with selling the not-yet-built condos.

Organized as a wine-tasting at the 904 Ludington St. business, the event will feature a presentation about the intended plans for the site and the units within, with the objective of securing reservations.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes a question-and-answer session.

The street in front of Leigh’s is closed due to construction, but a parking lot on First Avenue North is immediately behind the building, which does have a back door.

Starting at $3.50/week.
