ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Choral Society, a community choir registered as a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit, is hosting its annual spring concert on Sunday at Bethany Lutheran Church.
The concert is entitled “A Rutter Celebration” and features primarily works written by John Rutter, a famous British composer and choirmaster.
“Ordinarily, a concert showcases music from a number of different composers, but this concert is a bit different,” said director Ann Wood. “Every piece save one is by a single composer, John Rutter, and the one he did not write is a piece called ‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Rutter,’ which takes a satirical look at Rutter’s compositional style. Rutter is recognized as one of the most popular composers of choral music in the world today, and we’ll be singing some of his greatest hits, including his Requiem.”
While no admission is required, a free will offering is accepted.
The concert begins at 1:30 p.m. on April 12 at 202 South 11th Street in Escanaba.
