Stephenson man arrested for criminal sexual conduct

MENOMINEE COUNTY – Detectives and deputies from the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Stephenson man for sex crimes on Thursday morning following an investigation that began in Daggett Township in 2025.

Jamil Gomez-Castro, 30, was taken in custody after the Menominee County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the investigation and issued charges, according to a news release.

Gomez-Castro was arraigned in the 95A District Court on Friday for two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the third degree.

He remains lodged in the Menominee County Jail on a $25,000 cash/surety bond.

While there have recently been multiple arrests regarding criminal sexual conduct in the area, the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Daily Press that this case is unrelated specifically to the criminal sexual conduct cases of Travis Scott Thiry and Rocquel Anne Irving. Both Daggett residents were arrested one day before Gomez-Castro’s arrest.

Sheriff Kudwa encourages anyone with information about a crime to contact the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office by calling 906-863-4441. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers serving Marinette and Menominee Counties, www.mmcrimestoppers.com.

Gomez-Castro is set to appear in the 95A District Court for a preliminary examination on March 19 with his attorney, Alex Sieminski, and Menominee County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Sage Casselman.
