GLADSTONE – The Michigan State Police (MSP) has appointed F/Lt. Patrick Janisse as the new post commander of the Gladstone Post, serving Delta and Schoolcraft Counties.
Janisse, who brings over a decade of service experience, will oversee operations for both the Gladstone Post and the Manistique Outpost.
“Throughout my career, I have served both Delta and Schoolcraft counties as a trooper and sergeant, building strong relationships with the community and local partners,” said Janisse. “I look forward to continuing that work.”
MSP stated in a news release that although the Upper Peninsula has seven MSP posts, the Manistique location is the only outpost. Operating as an independent work site, it serves the residents of Schoolcraft County while remaining under the administrative oversight of the Gladstone Post.
Elk Rapids native Janisse holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and communication from Aquinas College. He began his career with the Michigan State Police on June 8, 2014, as part of the 127th Trooper Recruit School.
Following recruit school, Janisse was assigned to the St. Ignace Post, where he worked from Manistique and served as the post’s community service trooper.
Janisse later transferred to the Gladstone Post, where he served as a field training officer and evidence technician before being promoted to sergeant. He helped develop the Upper Peninsula Teenage Defensive Driving Program, improving safety for more than 100 teen drivers, and in 2023 was named the Eighth District’s “Trooper of the Year” for his efforts.

“Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a special place with wonderful people,” Jannise reflected. “I will support our troopers and will continue MSP’s investment in both counties. We will focus on proactive policing, deterring crime, engaging with the community, and reducing serious crashes through traffic enforcement that discourages dangerous driving. We look forward to working alongside our local law enforcement partners, prosecutors, community leaders, and others to keep our communities safe for everyone.”
