ESCANABA — Holy Name Catholic School raised $1,743.93 for the Upper Peninsula-based mission Sirvientes de Cristo (Servants of Christ in Spanish). Entrepreneur Day is a tradition that Holy Name students take part in during the annual celebration of Catholic Schools Week, which this year was Jan. 25 through Jan. 31.
Pictured are some of Holy Name’s middle school students, along with their teacher Mrs. Meg Jensen, who helped them sell cotton candy and root beer. Each class sold homemade items and treats to their fellow students and raised money for Sirvientes de Cristo, a charity that helps those in need in Honduras.
Entrepreneur Day, which this year was on Wednesday, Jan. 28, provides a valuable learning experience in marketing and selling products, and most importantly, teaches students the importance of helping those less fortunate. All money raised will go to Sirvientes de Cristo.
