MANISTIQUE — After a month-long investigation, Manistique Public Safety has arrested two people in association with the robbery of the Apple Barrel convenience store and liquor store that happened a few days before Christmas.

According to a new release, on Dec. 22, a man walked into the Apple Barrel — located at 718 Deer St. in Manistique — around 7:35 p.m. wearing a hoodie and face covering. He reportedly struck up a brief conversation with the cashier before demanding the employee hand over the store’s money. The employee did so, and the suspect then ran across Deer Street and continued north on North First Street. The employee was unharmed.
Officers from Manistique Public Safety and Michigan State Police canvassed the area and distributed still images taken from the Apple Barrel’s security camera, asking locals for help identifying the man. By Dec. 24, Manistique Public Safety announced that they identified a person of interest and needed no further information, but thanked the public for their assistance.
