‘Person of interest’ in Manistique store robbery
MANISTIQUE — Authorities said they have identified a “person of interest” in the robbery of the Apple Barrel liquor and convenience store Monday evening.
Manistique Public Safety officers were called to the store at 718 Deer St. about 7:35 p.m. Monday, where they were told a single male had entered and chatted with an employee before demanding money, which was given to him, according to a news release.
The male then ran across Deer Street and continued north on North First Street. The Apple Barrel employee was unharmed, the news release states.
Wednesday afternoon, the department announced they had narrowed down the investigation to an individual.
“The identification was made possible by the diligent efforts of several members of Manistique Public Safety the Michigan State Police and information provided to investigators by the public,” Wednesday’s news release stated.
The public was asked to refrain from providing any further suspects in the matter to “allow investigators to concentrate all their efforts on the identified suspect.”
The investigation remains ongoing and the identity of the individual was not revealed.
