Manistique Public Safety officers were called to the Apple Barrel store about 7:35 p.m. Monday, where they were told a single male had entered and demanded an employee turn over money from the store, which was done, according to a news release.

The male then ran across Deer Street and continued north on North First Street. The Apple Barrel employee was unharmed, the news release states.

Officers immediately began canvassing the neighborhoods around the Apple Barrel with assistance from the Michigan State Police. Area businesses were asked to call the police if anyone suspicious was seen on their property.

The male being sought is described as white, about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches in height and weighing roughly 225 to 260 pounds. No other distinguishing features could be noted due to his face and hair being concealed by clothing — he had a jacket hood pulled over what appears to be a knit winter hat and a winter face cover. The male was wearing black pants, a navy-blue, zip-up light jacket and gray athletic shoes at the time of the incident.
