Schools to have programs Tuesday honoring veterans
ESCANABA – A number of area schools plan special programs Tuesday to mark Veterans Day, many of them open to the public.
They will include:
— North Central Elementary, W5465 Third St. in Hermansville, will host the American Legion for a Veterans Day Assembly in the gym at 9:30 a.m. Central time. This event is open to the public.
— Holy Name Catholic School, 409 S. 22nd St. in Escanaba, will have a Veterans Day Appreciation Program at 10 a.m. in the gym. This event is open to the public. Veterans that have some ties to students, whether as family or friend, are welcome to speak with students and answer questions back in the classrooms once the event has concluded.
— Mid Peninsula School, 5055 St. Nicholas 31st Road in Rock, will have American Legion Post 559 for its Veterans Day Program at 9 a.m. in their gym. The program is open to the public.
— Bark River-Harris High School, W471 U.S. 2/U.S. 41 in Harris, will have its Veterans Day program from 1 to 3 p.m. in the gym. A Vietnam War veteran will be the guest speaker.
— Carney-Nadeau Public School, 151 U.S. 41 in Carney, has set its Veterans Day program for 2 p.m. Central time. The event is open to the public. Brig. Gen. Jill A. Lannan, Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, 24th Air Force, will be featured during the program.
