WILSON — Michigan State Rep. David Prestin of the 108th District, accompanied by his wife, Kathy, recently visited Wilson Junior Academy, an accredited private Seventh-day Adventist Christian school.
Wilson Junior Academy, N13925 County Road 551, serves students in kindergarten through 10th grade.
A group of students from the academy’s handbell ensemble performed a rendition of Christian melodies to welcome Prestin and his wife.
Prestin praised their performance, noting how it exemplified the spirit of community and creativity that defines Michigan’s educational institutions. He also presented the academy with a gift: a United States flag that had flown over the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing.
The visit culminated in a ceremonial flag-raising outside the school, where students, staff and guests gathered to hoist the banner high on its pole. The assembly then recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
“I truly appreciated the opportunity to tour Wilson Academy,” Prestin said. “It is always great to see a small but mighty school like this that embodies U.P. values and the patriotic spirit of our nation.”
