ESCANABA — Players de Noc is gearing up for two theatrical productions that are coupled together in shows that will run for two weekends, beginning Friday, Dec. 5.
In purchasing a single ticket, an audience member will be granted admission to both “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” and “The Great Christmas Cookie Bake-off.” Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 , plus one Sunday matinee at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 7.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” featuring a cast mixed with children and adults, is based on a 1972 book by Barbara Robinson adapted for stage that was also made into a feature-length film last year. The plot follows the tumultuous production of a church pageant that casts the rowdiest kids in town into its ranks to tell the story of Christmas. The play put on by Players de Noc is directed by Karin Beveridge.
“The Great Christmas Cookie Bake-off” is a musical written by Rick Hip-Flores. Operating with the premise of a reality baking competition, complete with celebrity judges, the show stars eight youths all striving to be the last chef standing in the “Cookie Coliseum” — each with their own personality and unique reason for joining the contest. Kelly Pepin directs the show in Escanaba.
Tickets may be purchased at playersdenocinc.ludus.com. For wheelchair-accessible spots, patrons can call 906-553-9778.
