ESCANABA — The owner of what was described as a pit bull-type dog has been cited after a reported fatal attack on a chihuahua in Escanaba, authorities said.

Escanaba Public Safety received a call about the incident on Eighth Avenue South about 2:02 p.m. Oct. 25. One dog that was reportedly leashed but without a harness attacked the leashed chihuahua, which died at the site, according to EPSD.

The owner of the pit bull-type dog was cited for dog at large, according to EPSD. It is now under quarantine with the owner for 10 days.
