Menominee County sheriff’s log from Sept. 10 to Sept. 18

MENOMINEE – Activity reported by the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department from Sept. 10-18:

Sept. 10

6:08 a.m. – A deputy responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash on US 41 in Stephenson Township. A vehicle driven by Ian Gorzinski (22) of Powers was attempting to make a left-hand turn and failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Joshua Dessart (34) of Wallace. The vehicles collided causing disabling damage to both vehicles. Dessart was transported the hospital for his injuries.

5:15 p.m. – A deputy initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 2 in Spalding Township for following too close. Upon further investigation the driver, a 69-year-old Hermansville woman, was arrested for operating while intoxicated. She was transported to and lodged at the Menominee County Jail.

Sept. 12

10:07 a.m. – A deputy responded to a residence on Pine Hill Court in Menominee Township for a larceny complaint. Upon further investigation it turned into a trespass complaint and both parties involved were warned of criminal trespass and they were released.

9:51 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a harassment and identity complaint on G-08 in Mellen Township. The caller stated that someone had created a social media account using his name and was then harassing someone else. The investigation was conducted and is ongoing.

Sept. 14

6:27 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to No. 34 Road in Nadeau Township for a loose dog complaint. The caller stated this is an ongoing issue. The owner was contacted and cited for failure to leash a dog.

7:56 a.m. – A deputy was advised to contact Escanaba Public Safety in reference to a subject wanted them to go get her son. Contact was made with the 39-year-old Escanaba woman and she was belligerent and hung up. The woman continued to call 911 several more time throughout the day acting the same. A report was completed and sent to the Prosecutor’s office for review and possible charges of misuse of 911.

9:27 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to G-12 in the City of Stephenson for a domestic that had just occurred. An investigation was conducted and a 21-year-old Stephenson woman was arrested or domestic assault. She was transported to the Menominee County Jail where she was lodged.

1:37 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the City of Stephenson for a neighbor issue that has been ongoing. The caller stated that the neighbor has been blowing his lawn at his residence and it has caused damage. An investigation was conducted and contact was made with all parties. The report was sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.

03:45 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to G-12 in Lake Township for a report of a juvenile problem. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the juvenile and he was then transported to the hospital for an evaluation without incident.

Sept. 15

07:29 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a business on U.S. 41 in Stephenson Township for a report of sexual assault that had occurred the day before. An investigation was conducted and a couple weeks later the suspect, a 67-year-old Stephenson man was arrested for criminal sexual conduct fourth degree as well as resisting and obstructing while being arrested. H was transported to the Menominee County Jail.

10:35 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a larceny complaint on J-1 Road in Nadeau Township. The caller stated he had an item go missing from his barn. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing.

12:33 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to CR 366 in Cedarville Township for a report of illegal dumping. An investigation was conducted and some items were located in the ditch. The incident is ongoing.

5:48 p.m. – A deputy was advised to contact a subject in reference to a malicious destruction of property complaint as well as an animal cruelty complaint on West Drive in Menominee Township. The caller stated he is having an ongoing issue with his neighbor down the road and he suspects he put something in the gas tanks of his equipment. The caller also suspected he fed his dog something that caused it to become ill. An investigation was conducted and closed due to lack of evidence.

Sept. 16

9:20 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to US 41 in Nadeau Township for a disorderly juvenile. The juvenile was placed into protective custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation.

1:22 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to 18th Avenue in Menominee Township for a report of a home invasion/breaking and entering complaint. An investigation was conducted and the suspect was located and interviewed. The incident was sent to the prosecutor’s office for review and possible charges.

Sept. 17

12:10 p.m. – A deputy along with Daggett Fire to Linderoth Road in Lake Township for some hay bales on fire in a field. The owner stated he had a flat tire on his trailer and was attempting to repair it when the hay caught on fire. No injuries were reported.

6:12 p.m. – Deputies served a court ordered petition on a subject on M-35 in Menominee Township. The subject was placed in protective custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Sept. 18

11:26 a.m. – A deputy was advised to contact a subject in reference to a threat’s complaint on Haggerson Court in Menominee Township. The caller stated that a 64-year-old Menominee man was being belligerent and threatened to hit her with his car the day before. The caller was requesting he be warned of criminal trespass and the incident was closed.

2:55 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to G-12 for a domestic assault that had just occurred. The caller stated that a female had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend in Peshtigo, Wis. An investigation was conducted and the incident was closed.

7:29 p.m. – A deputy responded to G-12 in Lake Township for a report of a hit and run crash. The caller stated he was traveling west when a vehicle coming at him crossed the centerline striking his mirror as well as scratching the side of his car. No injuries were reported and the incident is under investigation.

9:33 p.m. – A deputy was advised to contact a subject that was currently housed at the jail that wanted to file a larceny complaint. The complainant stated that he has found that several items are missing from his residence and he has some suspect information. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing.
