Holiday cooking show at Island to return Dec. 11

HARRIS — The third-annual Taste of the Island Cooking Show Holiday Edition will take place Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Island Resort & Casino.
The holiday event, hosted by the Daily Press and the Island Resort & Casino, will be at the casino’s convention center, W399 U.S. 2.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the show will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 each. Corporate tables seating six are also available for $100.
The evening will include cooking and hosting demonstrations by various presenters, including the Island’s executive chefs, who will make homemade holiday favorites, plus Lori Kulju, known as the “Yooper Goddess.”
Kulju has garnered about 16,000 followers on Facebook. Based out of Ishpeming, the Yooper Goddess presents her cooking segments every Friday on WZMQ-19 News.

Guests of the event can also watch a charcuterie board demonstration created with quality ingredients from Elmer’s County Market in Escanaba.
The event will include as well a buffet-style tasting, a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Salvation Army, various vendors and even a Sayklly’s chocolate fountain. A cash bar will be available, as well as cookies and dips, a free gift bag, door prizes and an “angel tree.”
Vendors scheduled to attend include Perks Cabinetry, which will have a kitchen island and cupboards display; Pioneer TV & Appliance, with a refrigerator and stove on display; and Elmer’s County Market with its charcuterie demonstration.
Attendees have a chance to enter to win the grand prize drawing for a KitchenAid stand mixer.
Residents in the region are encouraged to submit a favorite holiday recipe at islandresortandcasino.com for the chance to prepare that recipe one-on-one with the Island’s executive chefs and join them in presenting at the cooking show.
Recipes must be submitted by Nov. 29.
