ESCANABA — A mobile crime lab from the Michigan State Police was in Escanaba on Wednesday to assist the Escanaba Department of Public Safety with documenting and processing a residence where one person had been found dead.
While referring to the incident as a “tragic situation,” the department stated in a news release that foul play was not suspected.
Earlier Wednesday, city officers had responded to a report of a deceased person at a Second Avenue South home.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we requested assistance from the state crime lab to help us document and process the scene thoroughly. This is standard practice whenever we encounter circumstances that are not entirely routine,” Escanaba Public Safety wrote in the news release. “We are continuing to investigate, but we do not believe there is any danger to the public.”
