Woman killed in Gogebic County campground accident

BESSEMER — A Roscommon, Michigan, woman died Monday after being pinned between a fifth-wheel camper and a truck at campground in Gogebic County.

Law enforcement was called about 3:26 p.m. Monday to the Moosehead Lake Campground in Marenisco Township, where they found the 65-year-old woman still pinned. Despite immediate life-saving measures, the woman was pronounced dead at the site due to the severity of her injuries, according to a Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office news release.

No names were released in respect of the privacy of the parties involved in the incident, which remains under investigation, the news release stated.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post; the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division; the U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement; Marenisco Township Police, Fire and EMS; Lake Gogebic Fire; Beacon Ambulance; and Gogebic County Victim Services.
