A fire truck is seen on the 8th block of Delta Avenue yesterday after responding to a call about a small fire at the Gladstone Deli.

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Public Safety Department responded early Monday afternoon to a minor kitchen fire at the Gladstone Deli, 824 Delta Ave.

At least one fire truck and one police cruiser were dispatched about 1 p.m. The grease fire on the stovetop was extinguished quickly, a sergeant on site said. Aside from residue from the spray that requires cleanup, the restaurant had no apparent damage.

“They have a very good system in there,” the sergeant said, crediting the deli’s kitchen setup with keeping the fire contained.

After the incident, Gladstone Deli & Catering announced on social media it will be closed until further notice and that updates will be posted when available.
