GRANT TOWNSHIP – A Kentucky man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Keweenaw County.

Deputies responded just before noon Monday to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on U.S. 41 near the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge outside of Copper Harbor in Grant Township, according to a news release from the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office.

A 68-year-old male from White Plains, Kentucky, was northbound on U.S. 41 when he failed to negotiate a curve and collided with a guardrail, the release states. Police said the man was riding alone and was pronounced dead at the site.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The man’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Copper Harbor Fire & First Responders, Mercy Ambulance and the Keweenaw County Medical Examiner’s Office.
