Escanaba schools no longer locked down internally

Police responded around 11 a.m. to a tip about a person with a gun outside the Escanaba Junior/Senior High School. Schools locked down while law enforcement patrolled and kept on the lookout for suspicious persons in the area.
Around 12:40 p.m., classes were permitted to resume, but outside doors were to remain locked. Parents were allowed to enter to pick up their children with an escort.
Precautions were lifted when officers determined no immediate threat.
