ESCANABA — Police are not releasing the name of the victim or the suspect in a homicide that occurred Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:18 a.m. Wednesday, Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to a home in the city of Escanaba for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located the victim inside the residence. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A suspect in the killing was taken into custody without incident in another state and is currently being held there. There is no ongoing threat to the local community.

Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by Rampart EMS, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police, the MSP Crime Lab, Delta County Central Dispatch, and other law enforcement agencies.

No further information is being released, as the death remains under investigation.

The latest stabbing is the second in Escanaba within days. On Monday, Escanaba Public Safety officers were called to a stabbing at Fairview Estates in north Escanaba.
