ESCANABA — An investigation is ongoing into the stabbing of a woman that occurred Monday in Escanaba.

Escanaba Public Safety officers were dispatched at approximately 7:32 a.m. Monday to Lot 107 of Fairview Estates, located at 1401 North 23rd Street, on a report of a stabbing in progress. While headed to the scene, officers were advised by Delta County Central Dispatch that the suspect was leaving the scene in a blue SUV.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim at a neighbor’s residence. She had suffered numerous stabbing wounds and was immediately transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital by Rampart EMS for treatment.

The suspect turned herself in, and arrived at Escanaba Public Safety while officers were still at the scene. The suspect was questioned and later transported to OSF for treatment. She is currently in custody.

According to Escanaba Public Safety, the victim is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
