Munising woman reported missing; car found
MUNISING — The Alger County Sheriff’s Office has started a missing person investigation for a woman who reportedly was last seen at her Munising home late Friday evening.
Starla Goings, 65, is a white female, about 5 feet 4 inches in height and weighing about 160 pounds. She has short white hair and brown eyes.
“ACSO deputies were notified at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday after the woman’s family reported her missing,” Alger County Sheriff Sheriff Todd Brock said in a written statement. “Since then, efforts have been ongoing to locate her and ensure her well-being.”
The vehicle Goings was known to drive was later found a short distance from her home on Peninsula Point Road in Munising Township, police said.
The clothing Goings is wearing is not known. It is unclear whether she had an intended destination, how she may be traveling or other circumstances surrounding her disappearance, according to the news release.
On Monday, searches were conducted near the Peninsula Point Road area with assistance from partner agencies, including personnel from the Michigan State Police, Maquette County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
MSP is continuing to assist with the ongoing investigation.
