GROVER — A Marinette man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday. Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller reports that on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 12:48 a.m.,

Marinette County Dispatch received a report of a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 41 north of County

Highway M in the Town of Grover. The caller reported that this involved a vehicle that was traveling the wrong way on the highway.

Upon arrival, the investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Jose Javier Mejias Guerra, age 30, of Marinette, Wisconsin was traveling north in the southbound lane on US Highway 41 when he collided head on with a vehicle that was traveling south operated by Barbara Gualsaqui-Cabascango, age 20, of Chicago, Illinois. Gualsaqui-Cabascango sustained minor injuries in the crash. Mejias Guerra sustained fatal injuries.

Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash that remains under investigation by the Marinette

County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office. Also assisting Marinette

County deputies at the scene were members of the Peshtigo Police Department, Marinette Police

Department, Grover-Porterfield Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area EMS, and 180 Auto

Towing and Recovery.
