Hannahville celebrates school milestones
HANNAHVILLE — Hannahville Indian School and Nah Tah Wahsh Charter School proudly announce a year-long celebration in honor of their milestone anniversaries — 50 years of Hannahville Indian School and 30 years of Nah Tah Wahsh Charter School.
The celebration will kick off with a community-wide event on August 22 at Hannahville School, honoring five decades of cultural preservation, academic excellence, and student empowerment.
All community members, alumni, former staff, partner organizations, and families are warmly invited to attend and take part in this historic occasion.
Founded in 1975, Hannahville Indian School and Nah Tah Wahsh Charter School have been a cornerstone of the Hannahville Indian community, providing a culturally rooted education that honors Native traditions while preparing students for lifelong success. Over the past 50 years, the school has grown in strength, resilience, and impact, serving generations of students and strengthening Indigenous identity through language, arts, and community values.
The Anniversary Celebration will feature: A traditional opening ceremony with drumming and blessing, a Pow Wow, food vendors, and a community feast.
“This milestone is a powerful reflection of our strength as a people and the importance of self-determined education,” said Cara Koster, Director of Early Intervention Programs. “It’s more than a school anniversary–it’s a celebration of culture, community, and continuity.”
The event theme, “Honoring Our Past, Celebrating Our Present, Inspiring Our Future,” speaks to the collective spirit that has carried the school through five decades of change and progress.
All are welcome to attend and be part of this historic moment in our school and Tribal Nation’s legacy.
