Marina Fest returns this weekend
ESCANABA — Marina Fest is returning to Escanaba this week, bringing with it a full slate of music against a backdrop of boats and gentle waves.
The free event will take place at the Escanaba Harbor. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on while listening to the music.
The afternoon will kick off at 2 p.m. with the music of ToHuBoHu. Local favorites, the group is known for its eclectic sounds and high-energy performances.
At 4 p.m., The Union Suits, a five-piece acoustic bluegrass band that plays both traditional bluegrass music and fresh takes on music from other genres and artists, like the Beatles and Johnny Cash. The group hails from Marquette.
At 6 p.m., singer-songwriter Karlee Metzger will take the stage. Metzger, a Gladstone High School alumna and former contestant on season 11 of NBC’s The Voice, is also known for her original song “SAD.”
The final performance of the evening will begin at 8 p.m. with the Polar Blues Band. The locally-based, five-piece outfit features lead vocalist Bill Bailey, bass guitarist Steve Strom, rhythm guitarist Chris West, lead guitarist Dustin Dimock, and drummer Mike Hall performing authentic blues music.
The event will also feature a variety of food vendors on site.
