Homeland Security, others conduct probe in Stephenson
STEPHENSON — Deputies from the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a multi-faceted investigation in Menominee County led by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
On Thursday, the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office announced that representatives from eight federal agencies were present for the investigation, which occurred at multiple locations affiliated with Forte‚Äô Industries Inc. in Stephenson.
The role of the Sheriff’s Office and the deputies was strictly limited to providing a local law enforcement presence and assisting in maintaining peace and order during the operation. Deputies were present solely in a support capacity and did not participate in the investigation itself according to the press release.
The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office is not involved in any ongoing investigative proceedings related to this matter.
The office said that all investigative matters and enforcement agencies are being handled exclusively by the appropriate federal agencies.
The office also said that any requests for information should be directed to DHS or the lead federal agency overseeing the case,
