GLADSTONE — Four people will be running for seats on the Gladstone City Commission in November. On the ballot are Whitney Maloney, Mike O’Connor, Steve O’ Driscoll and Joe Thompson. The four candidates will be vying for three positions, and the three who secure the most votes will serve alongside seated commissioners Judy Akkala and Brad Mantela.

The expiring terms are currently filled by O’Driscoll, Thompson and Robert Pontius, the latter of whom is not seeking reelection. 

A petition that had been circulating with the hope that the social district may be revoked did not end up making the cut — though it had been submitted with more than the required number of signatures, a handful of those were not registered to vote or did not match the registered voter file. T​he question of the social district, which is already in effect, will not be on the ballot. Though citizens may see another petition circulating, the deadline for this year’s election has passed.
