GLADSTONE — Hot Rods and Harleys Cruise Nights are back for the summer in Gladstone. The event is in its fifth year, and its second in downtown Gladstone as the previous three took place in Rapid River.
Thursday was the first of four cruise nights presented by the Legion Riders Post 71.
“It went so well last year that we decided to add a fourth one this year,” said Legion member and rider Ed Snowaert.
The night features a variety of hot rods and Harleys, where the public can come by and look at vehicles from a different era.
The event is open to the public, and the legion encourages people to come by and socialize with legion members and vehicle enthusiasts.
Only one hour into the event, and there were plenty of vehicles to check out with more joining the festivities throughout the night.
Inside the post, there’s plenty of food and beverages for purchase was well as raffle buckets.
All proceeds earned from the event will go to benefit U.P. Honor Flight, Bay Cliff Health Camp, Wheelin’ Sportsmen as well as scholarships for Gladstone students.
If you missed the event Thursday, don’t fret, there are three more scheduled for the summer on July 17, Aug. 21 and Sept. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m.
The September date will also feature a live band.
The event is rain or shine.
The cruise nights take place at the Legion Riders Post 71 located at 802 Delta Avenue in Gladstone.
Note, the road will be closed between Delta Avenue to Superior Avenue on 8th Street during the event.
