Electrical issue cause house fire
ESCANABA — An electrical issue was the likely cause of the a residential fire that took place in March on Sheridan Road in Escanaba.
On Monday, March 17, at about 6:20 p.m., Escanaba Public Safety responded to a report of a house fire on Sheridan Road.
Two neighboring houses located at 913 and 915 Sheridan Road and caught fire, but firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a third residence.
On Wednesday, public safety put out a press release saying it had concluded its investigation.
“The likely origin of the fire has been identified as the light/electrical box on the rear porch of 815 Sheridan Road. The cause does not appear to be intentional or by human introduction of the flame or heat source,” Escanaba Public Safety stated.
The department is encouraging all residents to regularly inspect electrical systems, especially in older homes, and to consult with licenses electricians if any concerns and arise.
