GLADSTONE –The summer concert series in Gladstone’s tree-shaded, beachfront Van Cleve Park is underway on Thursday evenings. The lineup is varied, with different musicians each week until mid-August, with the exception of July 3.
On June 26, Tim Hirn and Co. are scheduled to perform. Their style is classic rock and rockin’ blues.
The Derrell Syria Band is on the docket for July 10, with “variety acoustic” listed as the music they’ll play. Syria is a songwriter who has been associated with Finnish reggae.
Where’s Gary? is a four-piece classic rock band that will play at Van Cleve on July 17.
On July 24, 2nd Edition — a band from Manistique — is set to play “crowd-pleasing” classic rock.
JD & Co. is the classic rock band that will perform from the Gladstone Beach House on July 31.
The following week, Aug. 7, attendees can expect to hear soft rock of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s from the Maynard’s Band.
For the final show of the year, Angels and Outlaws will play classic rock and country on Aug. 15.
The first two sessions of Gladstone’s summer concert series featured Seth and Desiree Brown playing American folk music on June 12 and Chad Borgen and the Collective playing classic country on June 19.
All concerts in this Thursday series begin at 7 p.m. and go until 9 p.m.
Concerts take place in front of the beach house, with audience members invited to gather on the north lawn with chairs, blankets, coolers and refreshments. Dogs are allowed on six-foot leashes. All performances are free to attend.
Attendees may be wise to arrive early to stake out good spots — both parking and the lawn tend to fill up.
