McCoy Construction and Forestry at new location

ESCANABA — McCoy Construction and Forestry settled in its new home today, located at 6442 U.S. 2 and 41 and M-35, roughly a mile away from its old home at 1818 North Lincoln Road.
The company broke ground on the project in April of last year, but briefly delayed construction as it awaited discussions between Wells Township and Escanaba about possibly extending the sewer line into a portion of the township, including the new McCoy location. After discussions, the township did not want to move forward with the agreement and the potential plan did not go before the city council for a vote.
Instead, the company installed its own line that goes into a holding tank, then a grinder system that pushes it under the highway to the city’s main line.
Now, with construction complete, McCoy is settled in its new home, opening at 7 a.m. today.
General Manager Jeff Carlson said he and his team are thrilled about the new facility.
“We are very excited about the new facility. It’s a brand new facility,” Carlson said.
The move comes as the company outgrew its old facility.
“It was designed for smaller equipment, and a lot of the equipment got a lot larger these days than it was back in the past,” Carlson explained.
The new building is almost three times the size of the previous location.
“That was a big deal,” Carlson said.
The new facility should not only benefit the company but also the clientele.
“It’s about taking care of our customers and trying to be able to provide them the best service we can give them, and this building allows us to do it,” said General Manager in Training (GMT) and Inside Sales Representative (ISR) Tyler Hanson.
“This ramps up our level of support we can offer,” Carlson added.
McCoy will further celebrate its new facility this summer with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for June 12.
Carlson thanked McCoy for allowing them to build a new facility, as well as the contractors who made it possible.
“This is a beautiful facility,” he said.
