The “Women of Valor” — veterans participating in Upper Peninsula Honor Flight Mission XXVI — wait to board a plane to Washington, D.C. early Wednesday morning, while a list of their names hangs in Van Rooy hangar at Delta County Airport. Over 160 female veterans from all branches of the military participated in the flight to visit war memorials in the nation’s capital. Mission XXVI was the first all-women’s Honor Flight for the Upper Peninsula chapter and reportedly the largest all-women’s Honor Flight in the country so far.
