Draft horses to plow Community Gardens
ESCANABA — The Bark River Area Draft Horse Club will be tilling the Community Gardens in Escanaba on May 3, weather permitting, beginning around 10 a.m. There may be six teams of horses, large draft and ponies, doing farming the “old” way. The public is welcome to watch and enjoy.
The club, all volunteers, has been tilling the gardens for many years and hope people enjoy watching them.
The club has been operating for about 45 years. Though they started with just draft horses, they now have ponies and riding horses and organizes trail rides in the summer and fall. The group just had a spring dinner at the Highland.
