Dryer catches fire at Escanaba laundromat

ESCANABA — Escanaba Public Safety officers responded to a laundromat Saturday when a dryer inside caught fire. The blaze was extinguished quickly and no one was injured.

Officers were called to Wash Wave, 2401 1st Ave. N., at 11:20 a.m. Saturday after a report of smoke and flames coming from a dryer. When they arrived, smoke was coming out the front door of the business. The fire was quickly extinguished and officers vented the building to remove the remaining smoke.

The fire remains under investigation, officers said.

The Escanaba Public Safety Department was assisted at the scene by the Escanaba Electric Department, DTE, Rampart EMSand the Delta County Dispatch Center.
