Meth dealer ‘Uncle Pork’ gets prison sentence

MENOMINEE — A Menominee County man was recently sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for delivery of methamphetamine. Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey T. Rogg announced that Edward Lee Britton, aka “Uncle Pork” 63, of Wilson, was sentenced to three to 20 years in prison for delivery of methamphetamine.

The prison sentence was handed down by Judge Mary B. Barglind in the 41st Circuit Court.

According to court documents and information presented in open court, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) used a confidential informant (CI) in April of 2023 to purchase 1.1 grams of methamphetamine from Britton at a residence located on Bellefeuil Lane D-3, in Wilson.

During the transaction, Britton told the CI he would offer the methamphetamine at a discounted price if bought in large quantities. The CI made more purchases from Britton in May and June of 2023. A search warrant for the address was obtained and executed on June 20, 2023.

$100 of UPSET prerecorded funds from the purchase the day prior were located on Britton’s person and seized. Authorities also seized additional quantities of methamphetamine, guns and drug paraphernalia used in Britton’s operation.

According to Rogg, Britton agreed, as part of the settlement of the case, to testify against others involved in his drug trafficking operation.

“Mr. Britton now has seven felony convictions in three different states and, although he ‘scored out’ for more prison time than he ultimately received, I agreed to the ‘downward departure’ because his cooperation against others will allow further disruption of mid-level drug dealers in Menominee County,” Rogg explained.

He added that while Britton is assisting law enforcement, he is still being held accountable for his actions.

“Mr. Britton is, at the same time, being held accountable for his own actions with the prison sentence which, for a man of his age; is still a sizable sanction,” he said.

Rogg acknowledged the partnership with UPSET, saying “I am extremely proud of the teamwork and partnership that is demonstrated between my office and UPSET, who are making a real difference in the fight against drug use and traffic in our community.”
