Waterfront Art Festival returns Saturday
ESCANABA — The culmination of art week in 2024 is the Waterfront Art Festival, organized by the William Bonifas Bonifas Fine Arts Center. The festival is once again coming to Escanaba’s Ludington Park this Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
47 artists and other vendors will have booths and tents, selling their crafts and merchandise throughout the day. A youth tent will house 16 young artists and their work.
As during previous festivals, one tent will be coordinating art raffles.
At another, Youth Empowering Services will have materials set up for children to tie-dye tote bags for free.
There will also be four informational booths and five food trucks.
Musical artists are part of the festival, too. From 10 to 11 a.m., Remnants Barbershop Chorus will be strolling through the vendor area.
At the Karas Bandshell, the Escanaba City Band will play from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Following will be ‘Ski, a family band, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Drew Peterson, a musician from Minnesota, will take the stage from 2 to 4 p.m.
The 5K Color Run that had been scheduled for the early morning was canceled due to lack of sign-ups.
Setup for the Waterfront Art Festival will begin Friday evening, and Bonifas staff will also be at the park to assist with preparations at 7 a.m. Saturday morning before the festival kicks off at 10 a.m.
When the art festival concludes, another event will begin — Rock the Dock starts at the Escanaba Municipal Dock at 4 p.m.
