Upper Peninsula State Fair offers all sorts of food

ESCANABA — The U.P. State Fair continues to treat attendees with entertainment, games, pageantry, and of course, food. The fair is nearly halfway complete, so make sure you get out to the fairgrounds and try all of the tasty treats.

From the moment you walk in, your olfactory system will be inundated with delicious and various scents.

Everywhere you look, there is a vendor selling food, sweets and beverages.

If you’re looking for a savory snack or meal. there are plenty of options including corn dogs, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, cheese curds, cheese steaks, nachos, tacos, chicken tenders, bourbon chicken, catfish, whitefish, Polish sausage, Italian sausage, pizza, steak tips, gyros, soft pretzels, popcorn, kettle corn and so much more.

Be sure to stay hydrated throughout the day as you will be busy walking around playing games and getting on rides.

Attendees won’t be hard-pressed to find freshly squeezed lemonade as multiple vendors serve it at the fair. Some vendors even have flavored lemonade such as blueberry and strawberry. If lemonade isn’t your thing, there are plenty of sodas, teas, smoothies and coffees to choose from.

It wouldn’t be complete without dessert; luckily the fair has guests covered on that front as well.

Sweet lovers will find cotton candy, ice cream, Dippin Dots, mini donuts, funnel cakes, candy apples, caramel apples, pasties, deep-fried Oreos and of course, elephant ears.

Some vendors prefer cash for payment, and luckily there are ATMs scattered around the fairgrounds if you forget to bring any.

Make sure to get out and get some grub before the fair ends – you’ve earned it.
