Despite rumors, Escanaba’s The Store not closing
ESCANABA — The Store in Escanaba is not closing. After two days of rumors and hearsay making the rounds on social media, it is confirmed that The Store will not be closing.
On Tuesday, several organizations, including the Daily Press, received a notification from Nexxuss Group, a third party inventory management company responsible for processing payments for items with bar codes, saying that starting July 31, 25 locations would close, including The Store in Escanaba.
In the notice, vendors were told to make the necessary arrangements to pick up any owned equipment or products by the July 31.
This quickly spread on social media, causing The Store to be flooded with inquires about whether it was true or not.
Manager Emily Gagnier put rumors and speculation to rest, saying “that is false information.”
“We’re not closing and it’s operations as normal. Everything is staying the same,” Gagnier said.
Late Wednesday morning, Nexxuss Group sent out an email stating only five locations were closing, all located in Wisconsin.
“The Store has notified Nexxus that they are not closing all of their stores as we previously stated,” the company said.
The closing stores are located at 32 Park Ridge Drive, Stevens Point; 100 South Rosera Street, Lena; N115 State Park Road, Appleton; 425 West Grand Avenue, Rosholt; and 1505 West Mcmillian, Marshfield.
