Tour da Yoop, eh to start in Manistique
MANISTIQUE — The 7th Annual Tour da Yoop, eh cyclists will embark on their epic ride of 1.203 miles around the Upper Peninsula soon. Cyclists leave downtown Manistique Friday morning, July 26 at 8:15 a.m. The full tour is composed of 10 stages, averaging 120 miles per stage with stays in nine host towns across the Upper Peninsula. Cyclists stay in each town for one night and in the morning it’s off to the next town.
The Tour da Yoop, eh biking adventure began in 2018, when James Studinger, founder of Tour da Yoop, eh set out to showcase the U.P. He outlined thousands of miles of safe biking routes in the U.P. and brought attention to it by biking 10 days and 1,200 miles around the entire Upper Peninsula, establishing the first Tour Da Yoop, eh ride. The tour has become an annual event and today its mission is to promote bike safety and raise awareness and money for Lions Childhood Cancer. Tour da Yoop, eh partnered with the Lions four years ago to help kids and families that are battling childhood cancer in the Upper Peninsula. Their mission is to raise $149,000 this year.
“The money we’ve raised these past few years have been to help families throughout the Upper Peninsula and we’ve been able to lend a tremendous hand,” Studinger said.
