One teen killed in single vehicle crash

MARQUETTE — An 18-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Marquette Township, State Police at the Negaunee Post said. At approximately 4:45 a.m. Monday, troopers were dispatched to the area of County Road 550 near Middle Island Point Road in the Marquette Township for a single-vehicle accident. As troopers headed to the scene, they learned that there were three individuals in the vehicle, one of which was ejected from the vehicle. Upon arrival, responders identified the driver as a 16-year-old male and the front passenger as a 17-year-old female. Both were taken to the UP Health System for evaluation. The report states that the driver sustained serious injuries. The back seat passenger was identified as an 18-year-old male who was entrapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Responding troopers were assisted by the Marquette Police Department, Marquette Township Fire Department and UPHS EMS. The crash remains under investigation.
