Road commission announces major 2024 projects

ESCANABA — The Delta County Road Commission has announced its major construction projects for the 2024 summer season. All project dates are subject to change.

In Ford River, the road commission will repair the pin and hanger assembly on the 537 Bridge, which is on G.5 Road and crosses over the Ford River. Work has started on the project and is set to end in September.

In Bark River Township, the 410 Bridge, which is on 17th Road and crosses 10 Mile Creek, will be replaced. The work has started and is set to end in August.

Two projects will take place in Fairbanks Township. County Road 483, also known as LL Road, will be paved from Fayette to the road’s end. The project will start in mid-August and is expected to be completed within the month.

County Road 438, also known as 8th Road, will also be paved in Mid-August, but the project will only span a half-mile.

In Garden Township, County Road 436, also known as 17th Road, will be paved for two miles starting in mid-August. The project is slated to be completed that month.

In Cornell, E-18, also known as Truax 24th Road, will be subject to a complete rebuild. A projected timeline for that work has yet to be determined.

In addition to these major projects, the road commission will be working on a number of local township projects such as sealing and gravel work. The road commission recommends that residents speak to their township officials directly about any projects that may be taking place in their jurisdictions.
