Police seek information on solar panel battery theft

THOMPSON — Troopers from the Manistique Outpost of the Michigan State Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying possible suspects in the theft of a solar panel battery in Thompson Township. The battery was stolen from a property on Flodine Road sometime between April 10 and April 24.

The BatteryEVO “Big Condor” 48 volt battery is gray in color with the BatteryEVO logo — a backwards capital “B” with a lightning bolt for one side and the word BatteryEVO — on the front. The battery is approximately 13.3 inches deep, by 21 inches wide, and 34.8 inches tall. It weighs 368 pounds.

According to the BatteryEVO website, the battery is designed to provide power to homes up to four bedrooms in size. It sells for $4,599.

Anyone with information that could lead to the recovery of the battery or identifying possible suspects is asked to call the Manistique Outpost at 906-341-2102. Tips may also be submitted using the Michigan State Police phone app.
