When local residents awoke Thursday morning they discovered winter had returned to the area. Several inches of snow fell overnight and blanketed the landscape -- including the section of 8th Avenue South in Escanaba shown above. Snow has been a rarity in the area this winter. So far, there has been no snow-cover the majority of the winter. With the fresh snow, residents found themselves dusting off their sleds and snow shovels.
