Vehicles burned in brush fire

Two vehicles were caught in a brush fire Monday, according to the Ensign Township Volunteer Fire Department. At approximately 2:57 p.m., firefighters were dispatched by Delta County Central Dispatch for mutual aid with Nahma Township Fire/Rescue for a brush fire with vehicles involved. The United States Forest Service out of Rapid River was also requested. Ensign firefighters responded with the department’s brush truck and tanker. Ensign firefighters assisted on the scene by fully extinguishing the two vehicles on fire, as well as some hot spots in the brush. Firefighters cleared the scene at 4:25 p.m.
