ESCANABA — Two downtown Escanaba businesses were destroyed by fire early this morning. Firefighters at the scene said Schwalbach Kitchens, 1009 Ludington Street, and a neighboring business were both destroyed in the blaze.

Multiple fire departments responded to the fire. They were able to contain the fire to the two buildings, but neither remain standing this morning. Firefighters remained at the scene putting out hot spots.

Further information on the blaze was not available this morning.
