ESCANABA -- The Salvation Army of Delta and Marquette counties are in need of volunteer bell ringers to fill the remaining hours still available for the last week of their Red Kettle campaign. Between the two counties, approximately 700 hours have not yet been filled by volunteers. The region as a whole has raised almost 70% of their kettle goal nearing the final stretch of their campaign.
Interested persons or groups can go to www.registertoring.com to sign up as a bell ringer and choose the times as well as the locations that would fit into their schedules. Those interested can also contact The Salvation Army directly at (906) 226-2241 for Marquette or (906) 786-0590 for Escanaba if they need assistance or would like to speak to a volunteer coordinator.
Money raised by the Red Kettle campaign stays within the community and provides funding for our programs and services such as the lunch feeding program, community pantry, youth programming, utility assistance, and much more, states the regional Captain, Doug Winters. The last day to ring a bell is December 23.
The Salvation Army has operated continuously serving the people of Marquette , Schoolcraft, Alger and Delta counties since 1889. Locally, The Salvation Army operates food pantries, lunch feeding programs, kids programming, ongoing casework for families in need, and Emergency Disaster Services. Seasonal programs include Backpack and School Supplies distribution, Christmas Toy Shop, and Christmas baskets. If anyone needs services, they are asked to contact 906-226-2241 in Marquette and Alger Counties and (906) 786-0590 in Delta and Schoolcraft counties for assistance.
