ESCANABA -- The name of a second Delta County commissioner will appear on the May 2024 ballot.
The Delta County Clerk's Office announced Monday that 1,006 of the 1,235 signatures submitted seeking the recall of Commissioner Bob Barron were valid, only five more than the 1,001 needed to trigger a recall election next year.
Barron represents District 3, which includes Bark River, Ford River, and portions of Escanaba and Escanaba Township.
Barron's name will appear along side that of Commission Chair Dave Moyle. On Oct. 31, 697 of the 823 signatures submitted for his recall were found to be valid. Only 666 were needed.
Petition signatures for a third commissioner are still under review. A total of 953 signatures in support of the recall of Commissioner Bob Petersen, who serves District 5, were turned in to the county clerks office on Nov. 2.
