ESCANABA -- Two people have been charged in connection with a stabbing that took place at an Escanaba bar Saturday.
The stabbing occurred at 12:24 a.m. Saturday in the back lounge area of the Granada Bar, 330 S 10th St., in Escanaba. Escanaba Public Safety officers were called to the bar after a report of a man being stabbed. When they arrived at the bar, officers found that a man had been stabbed in the abdomen.
The victim, whose name has not been released, suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment by Rampart EMS.
Roma Stanley Maier and Leah-Anne Marie Wera were later arrested in connection with the stabbing and lodged at the Delta County Jail. They were both arraigned Monday on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or $5,000.
