ESCANABA -- Downtown Escanaba's sidewalk sale, organized by the Escanaba Downtown Partners in Business, returns on Friday, July 28, and Saturday, July 29. Sections of Ludington Street will be closed on Saturday to accommodate the activities.
Officially, sidewalk sale hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, but not all of the participating stores and restaurants are limiting their various promotions to that time frame. For example, Ludington Grill is offering $2 off any pizza from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday. On the other side of the spectrum, some businesses have a smaller window in keeping with their hours, such as St. Vincent de Paul (closing time 4 p.m.) and Pioneer TV & Appliance (closing at 2 p.m. on Saturday).
Businesses from the 900 block to the 1400 block of Ludington are running sales. Participants include: Leigh's Garden Winery, North Coast Apparel, Nyman Jewelers, The Morrison Shop, East Ludington Gallery, St. Vincent de Paul Store, Mr. Bike and Ski, Ludington Grill, Pioneer TV & Appliance, Dress Up, KCL Embroidery & Kreations, Holy Smokes, Sayklly's Confectionery and Gifts, Highline, and Lisa Ann.
On Saturday, the road will be closed to vehicles, but 10th Street will be open for cross traffic. Events and attractions will occupy Ludington Street instead. Scheduled to appear are hippie buses with sales and photo booth opportunities, a pickleball display and court, a streetscape presentation on downtown beautification, vehicles from Armageddon on Wheels, Music on Main from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the Escanaba City Band from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
